If trusting in #Jesus #Christ as your #Lord and #Savior only bestowed #eternal life on the #Believer that would be more than enough to make it worth our decision. But God did not stop there. He has bestowed every one of the Faithful with one nor more spiritual gifts. Are spiritual gifts the same as spiritual fruit? What are these gifts and can anybody have more than one? Only the Holy Spirit enables a person to say that Jesus is Lord. What will the true Christian never say? What role do each of the three figures of the Godhead play in the function of these gifts? For what purpose are we given these gifts? Later Paul will give a full list of the spiritual gifts, but here he lists the ones the Corinthians were struggling to handle. Why are some gifts less evident today? The gifts Paul covers in this passage are wisdom, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discernment, and the speaking and interpretation of tongues.

Is there a difference between #knowledge and #wisdom? Just look at the arguments over #facts vs. #feelings and #Fakenews. How would you like to gain not only wisdom about what is going on in the world but also outside of it? Is God surprised by anything that we do? God has a plan that includes His Son, Jesus Christ and you. Can we gain insight beyond the most knowledgable people on Earth through a right relationship with the Savior? What mystery is revealed in Christ? What part does the Holy Spirit play in revealing and disseminating this wisdom? What is the purpose of offering us so much wisdom?

#Downsizing is very popular these days. If someone asked you to #simplify your life, could you boil it down to one thing? Remember, wants and needs are two different concepts. #Maslow developed a #hierarchy of needs that included #basic needs (food, water, shelter, etc.), psychological needs (friends, relationships, accomplishments, etc.), and self-fulfillment needs. But the Bible tells us in Philippians 4:19, ”and my God will meet all your needs according to His glory in Christ Jesus.” How can that be? Is this true for everybody? Why is the wisdom of this world foolishness compared to the wisdom of God and who can gain access to it? Have you ever noticed how conventional wisdom is constantly changing and the Bible is yet to be disproved? On an eternal note, God is righteous and we most certainly are not. How did God provide us a way to reconcile with Him? Is it a one time event or an on going way of life?

His Internal Ministry – The Pertinence Of The Holy Spirit – Giving Word Gifts

Last week, we learned about #work #gifts from the #HolySpirit and this week, we are going to learn about what Brother Tommy calls #word gifts (not to be confused with the Fruit of the Spirit). What is discerning of spirits? Interestingly, the Bible says discerning of spirits and not people. What can we do to build this word gift? Is it possible that more of us Believers have been given the gift of evangelism than we are aware? What is involved in the gift of exhortation? What is the gift of interpretation and how does it need to be present before the use of another gift? Who showed us the gift of the word of knowledge in the Bible? Music, although not specifically defined as a gift, is presented throughout the Bible. Do you desire the gift of prophecy? Good, Paul said you should, but it may not look like what you think it does. Teaching is a more often seen gift, but it is still too rare. Is there a more controversial gift than speaking in tongues? What about wisdom and how does it differ from knowledge?

Are there limits to our natural kind tendencies? What level of kindness are Christians supposed to show others? On what should it be based? What role does the Holy Spirit play? What does it have to do with patience, compassion, service, and the undeserving? What does kindness not involve? Have you ever heard of the three pronged test about what you should say? Is there such a thing as counterfeit kindness? What is the goal of Christian kindness?

Where should these convictions come from? What if it is something that is not specifically prohibited in the Bible? Should you persuade others to agree with your convictions? Are negatives always necessary? What is one sure way to make sure that you are making the right ethical decisions both negative and positive? What are the three questions you can use to make ethical decisions? What are adopted convictions? How do you start forming your own conclusions?
