There is a lot of #profit that has become #loss lately with all of the #quarantine and #marketcrash going on right now due to #covid19. Paul, in Philippians, encouraged us not to have confidence in the flesh. Could that be a lesson God is teaching all of us right now? Paul listed off all the things he counted on before coming to faith in Jesus Christ. Why were they not enough? Was it not sufficient to his salvation that he was born into the right family or that he was extremely religious? What are you counting on instead of, or in addition to Jesus Christ to save your soul? Is it money, status, reputation, or something else?

Have you ever had a #boss who would stop what they were doing to accomplish one of the many things they asked you to do? It is at first, embarrassing. But, then you catch on to what their priorities are. And, if you are wise, you make it your priority. How much more so, should we copy Jesus Christ, being God and coming down to our level and showing us what to do? Those of us who are in Christ, should constantly strive to be more like our Lord and Savior. That means humbling ourselves and serving others. Where and who was Jesus before He came here? Why and how did Christ come down to us? Jesus Christ was perfectly obedient His whole life. To where did that obedience lead?

Jesus was perfect and therefor had perfect joy. What were Paul’s circumstances when he wrote this book to the church at Philippi? How does proper joy produce triumph in all situations? Once we agree that we need it, how do we receive the joy of Jesus? What are the risks and rewards of obtaining it? Where does our citizenship lie, and why does that make a difference? What are the benefits of this Heavenly joy?

Time is short, there is less than two weeks left on the #Christmas #countdown. And we are on our second of three messages leading up to the anniversary of the Savior’s birth. Today we hear the story of Mary, a virgin girl chosen by God to deliver the long awaited Messiah. Typical of the way God works, the events would not unfold the way anybody who knew the prophecies expected. Interesting fact, the Bible mentions that Mary visited her cousin Elizabeth when Elizabeth was six months into her own pregnancy with John the Baptist. An ob/gyn friend of mine said that this is the point in a pregnancy when mothers first feel movement of their child. To what extent do we or should we revere Mary? What are some of the extra-biblical ideas being taught about her? What does the Bible say about her? Mary was favored by God, did that make her life easier? When presented with overwhelming news about her future, what was Mary’s perfect answer?

Biblical Basis for Missions – The Master of Missions

Even though #Einstein wasn’t a #Christian, he did breathe new life into the #logic side of the discussion about the existence of #God with his theories about #physics and #dimensions. But even more important than these scientific boundaries that were expanded, was the work that Christ did in His ministry, crucifixion, and resurrection. And what did Jesus tell us to do about it? Why did the Master wait until the end to send His disciples out into the world? How urgent is the Great Commission? If Jesus has the power and authority to send His followers out to spread the Gospel, and I believe He proved that He does, will He then share that with those who obey?

Walk in Love

Last week, we learned how to #walk in the #light. This week, we are learning to walk in #love. When #Jesus was asked what the greatest #commandment is, His answer was about loving God and loving others. Where does love originate? How does it differ from our idea of love? Does Godly love require reciprocity? If we both go for a walk and travel the same distance, will we end up at the same place? Only if we start on the same path from the same point. What proof do we have of God’s love toward us before we even acknowledge Him? How can we possibly emulate that toward others? What are the benefits of getting this right? Truly walking this way tells us what about our standing with God?
