When Paul wrote Corinthians was he being a #mysogynist?  Do you think it was easier for the men to hear that they were to submit to #God in everything?  Consider the atmosphere in Corinth at the time.  How were the prostitutes recognized at that time?  Many people seize on the headship of man over woman in this passage but there are three headships mentioned here.  What happens to the image of God when we fail to recognize His headship?  Did Christ recognize God’s authority over Him even though He was part of the Trinity?  What is the difference between reverence and practice when it comes to this message of purity?  How are men cautioned about authority?  Reverential worship requires inward purity and outward modesty to participate.

THE LIVING GOD COMMANDS

Today I have observed that most individuals think #commands are to be #ignored, #negotiated, or #changed according to their #desires!  As I was growing up in Texas many years ago, parents, teachers, and police had #authority.  Today I hear something like…”this is your honey do list” if you wish to do it!  God does not change nor does His Word.  “ALL GOD’S COMMANDMENTS ARE SURE AND TRUE STANDING FAST FOREVER AND EVER” Psalms 111:7-10  I see our nation listening to popular self centered idolatry while actively turning their backs on camera to GOD’S COMMANDS.  What does Isaiah 48:17-22 say? “The LORD said, ‘O that you had hearkened to my commands THEN you would have peace and righteousness…but there is no peace unto the wicked”  As I  watch the news, I hear and see what is right being portrayed as wrong and wrong being made right. “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken, cast down, but not destroyed…We have the spirit of faith believing and knowing Lord Jesus shall raise us up…for GOD COMMANDS HIS LIGHT TO SHINE OUT OF DARKNESS INTO OUR HEARTS GIVING KNOWLEDGE OF THE GLORY OF GOD IN THE FACE OF JESUS CHRIST..THAT THE EXCELLENCY OF THE POWER MAY BE OF GOD AND NOT OF US”  11Corinthians 4

Biblical Basis for Missions – The Mandate of Missions

This week we conclude the series of messages on #missions.   What is a #mandate and does it make a difference from where it comes?  A mandate is a command from someone in power.  In America, a political mandate comes from the people as they have the power to elect.  But, in a monarchy the command comes from the ruler.  As a follower of Jesus Christ, we must follow His commandments.  When Jesus said the fields are ripe with harvest, what did He mean?  What happens to a field that doesn’t get harvested?  It is sometimes very telling to hear the last words of famous people.  What were Christ’s last words before ascending to Heaven?  Would the lost in Hell beg us to go and be missionaries to their families?  According to the Bible, they would.  Who else is urging us to spread the good news of the Gospel?  Will you answer the call?

Biblical Basis for Missions – The Master of Missions

Even though #Einstein wasn’t a #Christian, he did breathe new life into the #logic side of the discussion about the existence of #God with his theories about #physics and #dimensions.  But even more important than these scientific boundaries that were expanded, was the work that Christ did in His ministry, crucifixion, and resurrection.  And what did Jesus tell us to do about it?  Why did the Master wait until the end to send His disciples out into the world?  How urgent is the Great Commission?  If Jesus has the power and authority to send His followers out to spread the Gospel, and I believe He proved that He does, will He then share that with those who obey?
