THE LIVING GOD SAID

from Barbara's Bible

“Who #said that?” is a phrase often repeated today. It seems everyone wants to repeat what was told them via a #friend, #enemy, #internet, or #news outlet. I am amazed at the distortion of verbiage. It reminds be of the whisper game where one person whispers a thought into the ear of the person next to him and then they pass it on from one to another. The last recipient then says aloud what he heard. The announced sentence was so distorted from the original that it seldom made sense. Sound familiar? This is why I turn to the Bible for truth which comes directly from His Word. Jesus said, “I have not spoken of myself; but the Father who sent me, He gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. I know that His commandment is life everlasting; whatsoever I speak even as the FATHER SAID UNTO ME, SO I SPEAK.” John 12:49,50 Are you listening? “COMFORT YOU MY PEOPLE, SAID THE LORD ” Is.40:1 How is this possible if you have not befriended Him? “We have seen strange things today…even a tax collector named Levi…and HE SAID UNTO HIM – FOLLOW ME” Luke 5:27 Who are you following now? Isaiah 66;23 lets us know God’s Words are true in the past, present, and future…”It shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another shall ALL FLESH COME TO WORSHIP BEFORE ME, SAID THE LORD” Be careful little ears what you hear!

His Internal Ministry – The Pertinence Of The Holy Spirit – Giving Word Gifts

Bible Audio Blog

Last week, we learned about #work #gifts from the #HolySpirit and this week, we are going to learn about what Brother Tommy calls #word gifts (not to be confused with the Fruit of the Spirit).  What is discerning of spirits?  Interestingly, the Bible says discerning of spirits and not people.  What can we do to build this word gift?  Is it possible that more of us Believers have been given the gift of evangelism than we are aware?  What is involved in the gift of exhortation?  What is the gift of interpretation and how does it need to be present before the use of another gift?  Who showed us the gift of the word of knowledge in the Bible?  Music, although not specifically defined as a gift, is presented throughout the Bible.  Do you desire the gift of prophecy?  Good, Paul said you should, but it may not look like what you think it does.  Teaching is a more often seen gift, but it is still too rare.  Is there a more controversial gift than speaking in tongues?  What about wisdom and how does it differ from knowledge?

MOUTH OF THE LIVING GOD

from Barbara's Bible

“Boy, does she or he have a big #mouth!” Have you ever said that phrase or heard it #spoken about someone? I am appalled by the #garbage that is spewed out of the mouths of both men and women on TV and on line today! Gutter talk seems to get them the attention which they are craving and they think it makes them tough. Well, not only am I sickened and ashamed for them, but what does our Heavenly Father think about ‘your mouth’ when we are made in His image? In Deuteronomy 8 it is written that the Lord our God humbled the Israelites for forty years in the wilderness while observing their willingness to keep His laws and to teach them v.3″that man does not live by bread alone, but BY EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF THE LORD DOES MAN LIVE...6.therefore, keep the commandments of the LORD GOD, to walk in His ways and to respect Him” Do we show respect to anyone in authority today ? GOD shows love for us even while we are sinners. Is.53:9 “GOD made His grave with the wicked, and with the rich in His death; because He had done no violence, NEITHER WAS ANY DECEIT IN HIS MOUTH” Our Living Savior, Jesus Christ humbled Himself to carry the burden of all our sins away forever if we turn to Him. “Repent, I will come quickly, and WILL FIGHT AGAINST THEM WITH THE SWORD OF MY MOUTH Rev.2:16 “The glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: FOR THE MOUTH OF THE LORD HAS SPOKEN IT…..the grass withers, the flower fades: but the word of our GOD shall stand forever.” Isaiah 40:5,8 My prayer: “May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength and my redeemer” Ps.19:14

His Internal Ministry – The Pertinence Of The Holy Spirit – Giving Work Gifts

Bible Audio Blog

What is an #apostle?  Were they just the hand picked followers of #Christ or is the #HolySpirit still enabling Believers with the work gift of apostleship today?  I personally have a friend who has the work gift of craftsmanship.

Brother Tommy next details the work gift of faith and how it differs from saving Faith.  What about the gift of giving?  Is it only for the well off individual?  What is it about the gifts of healing that makes us unsettled?  Does God always want someone healed?  What do we need to know about the gift of leadership?  How about mercy?  Are there still miracles being performed?  Which gift refers to feeding and caring for the flock?  And finally, similar to pastoring but standing on its own is serving.  What is the reward for using these gifts properly?

FACE OF THE LIVING GOD

Are you putting your best #face forward? As a man, do you #wash your face, #shave, or trim a #beard or #mustache, and then #moisturize before starting your day? As a woman, do you #cleanse your face upon arising then try some of the moisturizers, sunscreens, line reducers, makeup, & highlighters! How about the children – we are happy if they have a clean face and a dry nose. We all observe each other facial expressions and appearance, but what about GOD? Does GOD have a face? We are made in His image! “God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created male and female” Gen.1:27 So we are all beautifully made in God’s image, but what do we do to disguise that image? This past year has been devastating to so many around the world with disasters, wars, violence and stress. “THE FACE OF THE LORD IS AGAINST THOSE THAT DO EVIL, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.” Ps.34:16 Now that is a close shave. What face are you projecting to all those around you? Are you in trouble? Ps.103:1,2 “Hear my prayer O LORD, let my cry come unto thee: DO NOT HIDE THY FACE FROM ME in the day when I am in trouble” We reflect what we hold inside just as actors portray the mask of a frown or a smile – so do we! “If we turn unto the LORD, you and your children shall find compassion before them that lead them captive, so that they shall come again into this land: for the LORD YOUR GOD IS GRACIOUS AND MERCIFUL AND WILL NOT TURN AWAY HIS FACE FROM YOU, IF YOU RETURN UNTO HIM” 11Chron 30:9 Is God living inside you? “Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but the one that trusts in the LORD, MERCY SHALL COMPASS HIM. Ps.32:10 Let GOD PUT A SMILE ON YOUR FACE.

His Internal Ministry- The Pertinence of the Holy Spirit – Giving Worthy Gifts

Bible Audio Blog

Unlike the #fruit of the #Spirit, which all #Believers get in full, the #gifts of the Spirit are given individually to Believers at the Lord’s discretion.  What are the dangers of over or under emphasizing the gifts of the Holy Spirit?  What does the presence of the Holy Spirit indicate about the status of a Christian?  Does everyone who puts the Lord in charge of their life receive at least one of these worthy gifts?  Why does Paul say that he doesn’t want us to be ignorant about these things?  Who decides what gift we receive?  Who decides when and where it will be used?  And who gives that gift power?  Who receives a gift and who is supposed to benefit from it?  Estimates of the different gifts vary but, Brother Tommy believed there were twenty and he broke that down further into ten work gifts and ten word gifts which we will cover in the next two weeks (Lord willing).  How do these gifts compare to natural abilities?  Why should we not compare our gifts with those of others?  How can we discover our gift and increase it?  Why does the love chapter appear right in the middle of the discussion of gifts?
