Christ Is The Answer – The Renunciation of Rights

Paul, an apostle, meaning he had been called by #Jesus Christ was a Roman #citizen and a Jew in good standing.  This means that he had #liberties, #freedoms, and #rights like very few in his audience.  And yet were his rights and freedoms enough to save his soul?  Fun fact, was Paul ever married?  Should a church support their pastor?  But what did Paul do when it came to excersizing all of these rights and why?  Christians should be less concerned about rights and more consumed with our responsibilities?  How is the Christian life comparable to a race?

Christ Is The Answer – The Limits of Liberty

A #Christian has #freedom to do many things as they go about daily life.  Back in Paul’s day, meat that had come from a sacrifice to idols was finding its way into the market.  The Corinthians wondered if they were culpable if they ate this food.  But we can glean a much richer lesson from Paul’s answer.  Can we apply this knowledge to current issues like drinking, gambling, smoking, or other behaviors?  Is it enough to know that we are allowed to do a certain activity?  Do we also have a responsibility to our fellow man concerning our witness?  What about the guidance of the Holy Spirit?  What principles did Paul lay out for deciding whether something is right or wrong?  What are the consequences of pursuing an activity despite its effect on others?

Christ Is The Answer – Marriage Has Its Problems

What does the Bible say about #marriage #counseling?  Should a Christian marry a non-Christian?  What happens when one of the couple comes to salvation but not the other?  Believers are called on to bring peace into whatever situation they are found.  Is there any advice for Christ followers considering marriage?  Paul says to seek not two things about marriage.  What is the highest priority, pleasing God or pleasing your spouse?  Paul previously talked about divorce and when a Christian can and should remarry but what about widows and widowers?

Christ Is The Answer – Marriage Has Its Pattern

#Marriage, #celibacy, #divorce, and #equality – what does the #Bible say about these subjects?  Buckle up for a two parter.  Is there a difference between Paul quoting scripture and Paul expressing what he has learned?  What was the experience of the people of Corinth with polygamy and divorce?  Paul is answering questions that the Corinthian church had posed.  How many questions must they have had for Paul to devote a whole chapter to marriage?  When should they marry?  Paul says marriage is designed to be one man to one woman period.  What are the responsibilities of each partner in marriage?  Is it 50/50?  What are the rewards?  What is wrong with the reasoning that ‘God wants me to divorce my spouse?’  Was there any exception to this?

Christ Is The Answer – The Believer’s Body

#MyBodyMyChoice is a much quoted phrase right now.  Is that true according to the #Bible for #Christians?  The Corinthians were surrounded by a culture that said sexual immorality was of no consequence.  Sound familiar?  What does Christian liberty mean?  Are there any limits and what are they?  Should we consider the effect on others?  Will certain actions turn into deadly habits?  Why does Paul bring food into this discussion?   Everything was created for God’s glory including our bodies.  If we are grafted into the body of Christ as Believers, what happens when we give in to sexual immorality?  Many are horrified when a church is defiled but where does Paul say the temple of God is?  How can we avoid sexual sin?  Paul ends on a positive note exhorting us to use our bodies to glorify God.

We are grieving for the loss of a mother, sister, and a daughter who was also a cofounder of this site, Jeanetta Jones Daniel.  But, we know by her love that she was a Believer in Jesus Christ and that she is in a much better place with the Lord now.

Christ Is The Answer – The Case of Christian Versus Christian

Do Christians have any #business going to #court?  How are Believers supposed to deal with #fraud and other #wrong doings from a fellow Christ follower?  Did you know that we will one day be judges with Christ over the world and even over the angels?  What does it do to your testimony when you take a complaint with a brother before the unjust?  Paul writes that even the least esteemed believer should be a better judge than an unbeliever.  Are there biblically prescribed steps to take in a dispute with a brother?  What’s love got to do with it?  Are our rights more important than our testimony?  How do our forgiven prior wrongs preclude us from taking action against fellow church members?

Christ Is The Answer – Paying The Price For A Pure Church

20000827 Christ Is The Answer - Paying The Price For A Full Church - Rev. Tommy Jones

Are you #shocked at the current state of in-person attendance in the #church?  The Bible says that as we get closer to the #EndTimes there will be a falling away.  That doesn’t mean we should stop growing the church.  But is there a proper way to do that?  What is church discipline?  Of course, all are welcome to come to church and hear about the sacrificial Salvation of God.  However, the Bible has something to say about immorality among the members.  What is wrong with a church tolerating sin?  What if that church celebrates their tolerance?  Have you seen church discipline in action?  It is rare if non-existent.  Could this be why the World hurls the insult of hypocrisy at the weakened Church?  What does Paul mean when he says to turn the sinner over to the destruction of the flesh?  Is that some Old Testament Leviticus style justice?  Is the ultimate goal of church discipline a pure church or a restored Believer?  Why not both?  Paul reiterates the message of Jesus that the Faithful are to judge ourselves and our church not the unbelievers.

Christ Is The Answer – Within The Family Of Faith

There is no other institution quite like #family.  That can have a #good connotation or a #bad one.  The ideal model that #God set up in the beginning is a strong uplifting entity.  The church is a family that you can choose and join.  Do you have a father in the Faith?  Which lesson is better, a lecture or an example?  Brother Tommy often said that more is caught than taught.  What is the power that Paul says he will measure when he arrives?  Is there a proper type of discipline within the family of Faith?
