Christ Is The Answer – How I Wish I Could Preach

Can a #preacher deliver an effective sermon without God’s help?  #Motivational maybe, nice sounding possibly, but not one that furthers the #Kingdom of #God.  What did Paul learn about preaching a clear gospel message?  That should give Believers confidence to share their faith.  Some people may be swayed by apologetics or defense of the Bible, but without a personal connection to Christ there can be no Salvation.  That’s why your testimony is so important, because no one can argue with personal experience.  Paul was obviously courageous, but what was his admitted fear?  How can we lift up God in our everyday conversations?  What is the danger of misplaced faith?

Christ Is The Answer – Jesus Christ Is All I Need

#Downsizing is very popular these days.  If someone asked you to #simplify your life, could you boil it down to one thing?  Remember, wants and needs are two different concepts.  #Maslow developed a #hierarchy of needs that included #basic needs (food, water, shelter, etc.), psychological needs (friends, relationships, accomplishments, etc.), and self-fulfillment needs.  But the Bible tells us in Philippians 4:19, ”and my God will meet all your needs according to His glory in Christ Jesus.”  How can that be?  Is this true for everybody?  Why is the wisdom of this world foolishness compared to the wisdom of God and who can gain access to it?  Have you ever noticed how conventional wisdom is constantly changing and the Bible is yet to be disproved?  On an eternal note, God is righteous and we most certainly are not.  How did God provide us a way to reconcile with Him?  Is it a one time event or an on going way of life?

Christ Is The Answer – The Glory Of The Shame

#Pride is celebrated today.  The #Bible says that pride goes before a fall.  #Jesus Christ came not as a rich educated ruler, but as a humble, poor migrant.  And yet, what the World finds shameful, the believer finds glorious.  Do the worldly wise look for the messiah?  What need do the rich or ruling class have for the savior?  It is not impossible, but Paul says that not many of them will be saved.  Did God have a reason to use a simple method of salvation to save the Chosen?  To whom does the glory belong?

Christ Is The Answer – Lift High The Cross

The #cross, is it a stumbling #block, foolishness, or the answer to #eternal #life?  That depends on how you approach it.  Can we find our way to God by philosophizing or working hard to be good?  What did Paul say was to be the primary theme of preaching?  The message of the cross is simple yet profound.  Why does man’s wisdom balk at the simplicity of the cross?  What quality do we need to see the cross for what it truly is?  Have you ever asked God for a sign?  How can we see the cross properly?

#Unity, #politicians and #pundits promise it, but can they deliver it?  Without #Jesus, it will not be possible.  Well then, the #church has a better chance than the #nation, right?  What do we need to recognize first?  Are the divisive voices big or small?  How should these differences be analyzed?  Is there a common theme?  From where does the Bible say contention comes?  How does Paul reveal the absurdity of these divisions?  Identifying and addressing the problem is important, but what is the solution?

#Christians have something #nobody can take away.  No #lockdown, #election, or new #law can pluck us from His hand.  God gives #grace and #peace to His believers.  What does that mean?  Is there anything else that comes from following Jesus?  Does everybody get the same gifts in the same amounts?  What is the relationship between gifts and spiritual maturity?  What does it mean to be in fellowship with Jesus Christ?  Is there a difference between imitation and participation?  Christians also have something to which they look forward.

Who are you?  From where do you derive your #identity?  Is it your #job, your #gender, your #ethnicity?  #Christians receive their new identity in #Jesus.  Take for example, a certain prosecutor of the faithful who Paul mentions in this passage from first Corinthians.  Who gets to be called a saint?  How about a child of God?  Who is God’s church?  What does it mean to be called out?  And how is your calling essential to God’s will?

Whatever #problem or #question you have about #life or #eternity, #Jesus Christ is the answer.  First Corinthians was written to a church in Corinth that was similar to our churches today.  Who wrote it and what was the situation in which the audience found themselves?  Corinth was a city filled with idols, sexual immorality, and societal factions.  Sound familiar?  Who started this church and how?  How does a church influence a society instead of allowing the society to influence the church?  Many church members had written questions to Paul.  Did he start by answering all of their questions or did he begin with what the Lord wanted them to know?
