Serve One Another

Bible Audio Blog

What is wrong with looking out for #1?  Where does serving #self first get us?  What does serving others have to do with #freedom in #Christ?  Does freedom in Christ mean freedom to sin?  What does freedom have to do with servitude?  What should this service look like and what should it not look like?  Listen to the list of things that happen when people live selfishly and ask yourself if you don’t see more of that every year?  Now, listen to the list of the Fruit of the Spirit and ask yourself if you have them?  These grow by following Jesus and serving others in love.

Comfort One Another

As we look forward to the good news of #Easter, let’s look at how to #comfort one another.  Can everybody give comfort? Has anybody told you, ‘everything will be alright’, ‘time makes it all better,’ or ‘cheer up, it could be worse’?  What comfort did Jesus give us in the New Testament?  How did a shepherd use his rod and staff?  Have you even acknowledged the true source of your discomfort?  Does the Bible give us examples of ways not to comfort?  Ever heard of Karma?  Like the great instruction manual it is, the Bible also tells us the proper way to comfort.  And don’t forget the Great Comforter, the Holy Spirit.

Admonish One Another

Last week, we learned that we are to #encourage one another.  But, what happens when we see a fellow believer exhibiting behavior that is not to be encouraged?  That is when we are called on to #admonish or correct one another.  What about the command not to judge one another, is this a contradiction?  What should be true about us before we admonish another believer?  What should correction be based upon?  What did Paul show us about proper admonishment?  What is the difference between preventive and corrective admonishment?

Encourage One Another

When was the last time someone #encouraged you?  I got some encouragement today from visitors to our connect group.  I was taken aback. Usually visitors sit back and soak everything in before they join, but this Christian couple took an opportunity when prompted by the Holy Spirit to give a lift to a fellow Christ follower.  Do we all need encouragement?  How about the unsaved?  How can this help our unbelief?  What form does Godly encouragement take?  What is the difference between God’s encouragement and the World’s?  When was the last time you encouraged someone else?

Edify One Another

An #edifice is also known as a #building, and to edify is to build up.  What does it mean to build each other up?  As members of one body (the Body of Christ), why is it important to edify each other?  What happens if we don’t?  Can or should we try to go it alone?  Are any members more important than others?  When Brother Tommy speaks about the false fellowship offered by the local bar, think about how he would rephrase that today given our newest trend of social media.  What makes Christian fellowship better and deeper than anything the World has to offer?  What does the Holy Spirit have to do with this type of fellowship?

Forgive One Another

We all #want it but rarely #give it, #forgiveness.  Is it weak to forgive others?  Who is our example?  Is an apology or an admission of wrongdoing required before forgiveness can occur?  What happens when we don’t forgive others?  Does God gives us what we deserve when we sin against Him?  What does God’s type of forgiveness show us about how we should forgive and forget?  Can we forgive too much?  I challenge you to try.  What does true forgiveness look like?

Care For One Another

The Lord gave me ample #opportunities today to #care for my literal #neighbor.  It was enough to make me worry about next week’s lesson about forgiving each other.  #Jesus told us what He expects from us in the parable of the good Samaritan.  Did you know that the Jewish traveler and the beaten and robbed Samaritan did not live in the same area or even associate with one another?  That makes this parable even more amazing.  Do you avoid people who have been beaten down or robbed of their money or their dignity?  How can we equip ourselves and teach others to protect and defend with the whole armor of God?  Is it enough to identify the need?  Should we require others to come to us?  Should we do this all by ourselves?  Is it important to follow up?

Submit To One Another

Bible Audio Blog

What is the first relationship that comes to mind when you hear the word #submit in a biblical context?  The one most often referenced is between a #wife and #husband.  But, what about employer and employee or teacher and student or one Christian and another?  How does this behavior differ from what we see daily and even are told by the secular arena about the way the world works?  Are there examples of how we should submit to one another?  Can this submission go too far?  Can and should a leader submit to a follower?  What is the proper balance?
